april updates
little things, volume twelve
Hey book bestie! I know it’s been a while since I’ve sent out a newsletter, but we’re back. Let me catch you up on what’s been going on.
Let me preface these monthly update newsletters will include some things about my freelance editing business and my freelance design studio along with my author life.
In January, I started my first line edit for a client. I just started offering line editing this year, and I love it so much.
I revealed the playlist for Come Back to Me. If you want to listen to the playlist, click the link towards the end of the newsletter to visit my website.
I created my wholesale order form for indie bookstores based in Florida.
In February, I worked on an editing package for a client. I attended the Space Coast Writers Guild’s first annual book fair in Cocoa, Florida. This was first event of 2026, and I had fun getting to connect with authors and readers there.
My beta readers had their hands full with reading Come Back to Me. I don’t think my nerves ever dissipate when I get to this stage because I welcome the feedback, but I’m also terrified that they won’t like the book, haha.
On another note, I received my first wholesale orders from an indie bookstore in Brooksville, Florida and another indie bookstore in Tallahassee, Florida. I expanded my wholesale order form to the Southern U.S., specifically Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Virginia. I got my biggest wholesale order so far from an indie bookstore in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
March was a busy month for me. My editing calendar was fully reserved for the month. My first fully reserved month as a freelance editor (still can’t get over it). I’m so grateful to the authors who took a chance on me.
As far as author life goes, I announced that I’m doing a book signing in June at For the Plot in Orlando, Florida. I’m so excited for this. I can’t wait for June, but also I’m dreading it because that’s when the publishing chaos begins.
I revealed the full wrap for Come Back to Me. I’m so proud of it because I did the text and color coordination myself. That paired with Maria’s gorgeous character art and background illustration, *chef’s kiss.*
Signed paperback preorders for Come Back to Me went live on my online shop in March. All preorders come with fun swag items (while supplies last). My goal is hit 20 signed paperback preorders. To preorder a signed paperback, click the second button towards the end of this newsletter and it will take you to my online shop.
I revealed the microtropes for Come Back to Me on Instagram and Threads.
If you missed any of the reveals I posted on my socials these past few months, you can check them out on my Instagram.
AUTHOR JESSICA SYDNEY’S APRIL BOOK SPOTLIGHT
Wendy Flynn spent the last year watching her marriage crumble in front of millions of people. Now twenty-one, she’s determined to rebuild alone. She doesn’t need saving, and she definitely doesn’t need a man. What she needs is a record that proves she’s more than a cautionary tale.
Austin Lowery has everything: fame, money, a sold-out band. He’s also slowly killing himself trying to escape it all. At twenty-six, he’s so tired of performing that he can barely remember who he was before Route 19 became his whole world. He says yes to Wendy’s collaboration thinking it’ll be a distraction. He doesn’t expect it to feel like coming home.
For the first time in years, Austin feels like he’s not alone, and for the first time since her divorce, Wendy lets someone close enough to matter. But Austin’s addiction doesn’t care about their connection, and when his demons catch up with him,
Wendy has to decide if love is enough to save someone who might not want to be saved. And Austin has to figure out if he’s worth saving at all.
What About Wendy by Paige Roper is a rockstar romance that features a divorced FMC, found family, and dual POV. The MMC is a country singer, and he falls first for the FMC.
This book releases on June 6th.
From the sound of a bell to the buck of a bull, a person’s fate can shift in an instant. One choice, one action, one second can change everything.
Being a champion bull rider is all Rhett Rogers has ever dreamed of and lucky for him he has the talent to become a star. But fate is a fickle thing, and every ride is an eight second gamble against being the best, or landing among those who wish they were. As fate would have it, Rhett finds himself grappling with the decision to face his fears or save those he loves while succumbing to a life that fails to set his soul on fire. But making that decision isn’t as easy as he’d thought it’d be.
Kaylee Slayton has dealt with her fair share of disappointments her whole life. But none compare to the sadness triggered by the one man she should have been able to depend on—her dad. Alone in this world and hoping to make something of herself, she leaves the only life she’s ever known behind. Swearing off anything to do with rodeos in the process. Love and trust are hard to come by, forcing her to not only guard her heart, but let it harden all together.
A quick run in with a certain cocky, attractive and positively magnetic man leads her to question the wall she built so high. The only problem is he comes paired with a cowboy hat.
Their need to find themselves brings them together, but her stubbornness and his desire for a thrill could ruin everything.
Is it true that love can conquer all?
Storm Warning by Ella Embers is an open door, small town cowboy romance that is set in the early 2000s. It features a black cat FMC, a golden retriever MMC, and dislike to love.
Nash
For the first time in five years, I’m back in the States–home to play in the first professional women’s volleyball league the U.S. has seen in decades.
This season isn’t a dream. It’s a verdict.
If the league fails, I retire. No do-overs.
Living with my best friend was part of the plan. We’ve known each other forever. But we don’t talk about the goodbye kiss we shared the night before I left for Rome. And now I’m back, sleeping down the hall from the man I’ve been in love with for years.
But there’s no room for romance when my career is on the line. I can’t afford distractions—no matter how much I want him.
Wyatt
The woman I love is finally moving back home and offering her a room is easy. Pretending I don’t want more is not.
When she needs my help and proposes fake dating, saying yes feels inevitable. Acting isn’t hard when the feelings are real. When they always have been.
My contract is uncertain. My future isn’t guaranteed.
And the one thing I’ve always been sure about is suddenly standing right in front of me.
One season. One house. Two people trying not to admit they’ve already crossed the line.
Love on the Block by Emily Rex is a best friends to lovers, fake dating contemporary romance with only one bed, mutual pining, and she’s the athlete.
This book releases on April 24th.
Thank you so much for reading through my monthly newsletter. Check back next month for the next one.
